The kitchen is meant to be a relaxing and calming place…or so they tell us. It is meant to be somewhere for us to let our stresses go and chill out when we get home from a long day of work. However, that rarely seems to be the case! It usually ends up being a messy area that is filled with stress and frustration, especially when food starts burning or dishes turn into a scrambled mess. With that in mind, we thought you could use some kitchen hacks to make life easier!

Kitchen Hacks

  • Avoid soggy pastries by sprinkling bread crumbs on the pastry base before cooking. This stops sogginess because the breadcrumbs will absorb all of the moisture.
  • Invest in a Power AirFryer. This is a must-have kitchen appliance, as it is essentially seven kitchen appliances in one. However, most people do not own one. This machine will enable you to cook so many different things and do so with supreme ease.
  • You should wrap your herbs in damp kitchen towel and put them in your salad drawer to keep them fresh. After all, there is nothing worse than buying thyme, mint, and such like, only to get one use out of it because they have gone funny within a day or two.

  • Pre-chop onions when you buy them. Most recipes call for diced onions, which can take a lot of time once you get in from work and let’s face it, you can’t really be bothered with the hassle. So, when you buy onions, why not chop them up and put them in a freezer bag? You can simply cook your onions from frozen whenever you need them. Of course, you can also buy frozen chopped onions if you wish.
  • If you use one plastic or wooden cutting board, you are probably going to need to clean it while cooking, especially if you are handling meat. One of the best ways to clean a chopping board is by rubbing a cut lemon over the surface. Because lemon is a natural antiseptic, this effectively acts as a natural bleach.
  • Last but not least, to keep your bread fresh for longer you should place the rest of your loaf in a plastic bag with a fresh stick of celery and leave it overnight. The bread will absorb the celery’s humidity, which will refresh it for another day, meaning you do not have to do a last minute dash to the grocery store.

So there you have it: some of the best ways to make your life easier in the kitchen. If you follow the steps that have been presented above, you can ensure that your time in the kitchen is stress-free and more enjoyable. A few little tweaks to the way that you cook can go a very long way in terms of turning your cooking experience into a good one.
